How to buy a marquee for commercial use
Buying a commercial marquee can be a great investment for your business. It can increase your revenue substantially by enabling you put on more events – weddings, private parties, corporate events and fundraisers – all are possible when you have a large marquee on your premises.
However, there are marquees and there are marquees – and if you’re planning to spend a significant amount on one, here are some things you should take on board before you part with your money…
Are you buying from an established, reputable company?
Using an established marquee manufacturer makes sense.
If they’ve been around for a long time it tells you they’re doing something right. They’ll also have lots of experience, so will be able to guide you in the right direction and answer your questions – making sure you end up with the perfect marquee to suit your commercial needs. Reputation is all-important too.
Do they have a good name in the industry?
Are they known for their customer service and after care support?
After all, your marquee will need cleaning and maintenance, and possibly repairs from time to time.
Are they members of MUTA?
The Made-Up Textiles Association, or MUTA, is the ‘voice of the industry’ – a trade body set up to raise standards in the ‘temporary structure’ industry, and to promote ‘best practice’ in the industry for the benefit of the general public.
Using a MUTA member makes sense too, because they will follow the best practice guidelines, which in turn will benefit you as a buyer.
Are they helpful?
Of course, you don’t want to give your business to a company who aren’t very helpful do you?
But with an investment like a large commercial marquee, a manufacturer should be going out of their way to help you get what you want. Site visits are in order to look at where your marquee will be set, along with demonstrations of flooring options, toilets and extra rooms, and other accessories such as lighting, linings, furniture, etc.
From our base in Watton, Norfolk, Weatherill Brothers Ltd manufacture and sell high-end, bespoke marquees to businesses all over the UK. We’ve been in the marquee business since the 1950’s, so know a thing or two when it comes to design and manufacture.
Over the years we’ve come up with some innovative improvements to our marquee designs – including Dutch lacing that keeps the marquee flaps watertight in the worst of storms, and lower pitched roofs that prevent the big pools of water you often see in marquee roofs during the rain.
We are award-winning members of MUTA, and have had our marquees tested at windspeeds of 80mph – and not many companies can say that!
