So you’ve got a dream wedding in mind?
A beautiful summers day, sunshine, a traditional marquee on the grass. It doesn’t get much better does it?
Wedding Marquee are definitely in fashion, and it’s easy to see why. Nothing is more ‘English’ than a marquee on a sunny afternoon, so if you’re wondering whether you should have a marquee wedding – we say, ‘Go for it!’
Of course, there will be things to consider before you take the plunge. Location, cost, and many more factors too.
Let’s have a look at some of those things and help you decide on what’s right for you.
Current UK wedding costs
Some of the publications we read make for some scary statistics. It’s said that the average UK wedding in 2018 was over £30,000 but of course that includes some very high-end weddings… celebs etc… who may spend hundreds of thousands on a big day.
That 30K also includes the cost of the ring and honeymoon, but even so it’s an increase on the previous year of £5,000. However, we know there are ways to have a brilliant wedding that all will remember for a long time, without breaking the bank.
How to cut costs and still have a fantastic wedding!
1. Who do you know?
- Are there any family members who could help you out with the entertainment?
- A Magician or singer?
- How about a photographer?
- Do your kids or friends kids have a band? Maybe this could be their first gig (have a listen first though, you don’t want people remembering your reception for the wring reasons!)
2. eBay has everything
Wedding accessory shops can be expensive, so shop around. Buying online at eBay and other online sites saves you money that can be spent on other things.
3. Self-Cater
Outside caterers are great. Everything is done for you, but the cost will be high. On the other hand, you could save a packet by self-catering the whole thing. You could still have great food but save hundreds of pounds or even more.
Go to France and buy the booze, plan ahead and stock up on the food. Ask for help preparing it and get your friends kids to help serve on the big day. Get everyone involved.
4. Hire a marquee for your reception
If you have somewhere to put it, Marquee hire saves money on hiring a barn or a hotel. It makes perfect sense – you can choose the style you want, and the size you want, allowing you to cater to as many or few guests as you require.
It will be delivered and set up for you ahead of time and taken away after the event.
It’s easy and cost-effective, and you’ll be getting the marquee wedding you’ve dreamed about for so long.
