Marquee Weddings East Anglia
We often get asked what the cost of a marquee wedding is in the UK, and of course it’s a tough question to answer because there are so many variables involved.
In this blog we’ll take a look at some of those variables, along with current UK wedding costs, and see if we can help you make the right choices for your wedding.
How much does it cost to get married in the UK?
It’s worrying to know that the average cost of a wedding in the UK rose to over £30,000 in 2018. That’s an increase of around £5,000 from 2017, but it does include the ring and the honeymoon.
It’s an expensive time for sure, and any ways of potentially lowering the cost without compromising on the experience, should surely be looked at.
Having said all that, it’s an average, and that means lots of people will be spending less than that – with some spending a great deal more (we don’t know if Harry and Meghan’s wedding was included in that average!).
So how can you have a brilliant day and at the same time save yourself some cash? Here are some great ways to keep your budget under control…
4 ways to have the wedding of your dreams without breaking the bank
By putting a marquee on a piece of land owned by you or a friend or family member, or that you’ve rented for the weekend, you have the potential to save on expensive hotel and barn venues.
Depending on budget, marquees are available in all shapes and sizes, so are suitable for small or large numbers of guests.
2. Cater it yourself
If you plan on having a lot of guests the food and alcohol bill will be high if you use outside caterers. As we’re talking about saving money here, why not cater the reception yourself?
By planning, buying, and preparing ahead of time you can potentially save 1000’s of pounds and still have a cracking meal or buffet. Ask friends and family to help, and maybe pay the teenage children of your friends or some local children to help serve the food on the big day.
A cross channel trip to France could pay dividends too if you want to buy cheaper booze.
3. Shop around for your accessories
You may want to theme your event, but wedding accessory shops can charge a premium. Why not shop around? Ebay and other online sites can often offer better prices for the same items, saving you money that can be spent elsewhere.
4. Who do you know?
Do you have a photographer in the family? A Singer perhaps? A Magician?
If you can save money on the entertainment that could help you out too.
Beware though, you’ll want your wedding photographs to be good, so make sure anyone taking them knows what they’re doing, or you’ll end up disappointed.
